What are the trends this season?

As a general theme, formal business dress continues to make a comeback, with suits and dress shirts leading the way. As this trend continues, we are also seeing a movement back to better fabrics in many of the key wardrobe elements.

Start with dress shirts, where 140's 2-ply cotton yarns are once again being featured in our custom dress shirt program. Reminiscent of fine Sea Isle cotton, this luxury fabric creates the softest, silkiest dress shirts available. The closeness of the weave (the 140 represents the thread count - the higher the thread count, the finer the weave) also enhances both the color and pattern definition of the shirt. Pair this premium dress shirt with a 130's merino wool suit and you will simply exude luxury.

Another major theme in dress shirts are checks. Tattersall, tonal and graph checks, in a wide variety of collar and cuff styles will be prominent items. Additionally, classic dress shirt patterns are also making a comeback. Pinstripes, Bengal stripes, pindots and minichecks are all popular looks this season. And of course, with the classic dress shirt patterns back in vogue, can classic ties be far behind? Look for the return of the stripe in neckwear, with the repp stripe leading the way.

Purple is an important color this season, look for purple dress shirts in a myriad of patterns and collar and cuff styles. Purple will also be an important neckwear and accessories color.

Pair any of the aforementioned fine gauge knits with a soft sportcoat or shirt jacket. These pieces are as stylish and functional as a traditional sportcoat, but have a less structured, more casual feel.
